I put some succulents in a clear vase. As the bowl is open at the top, it is easy to spray and water.

To learn how to water, this link was so helpful.

Flower class week 5

Flower in a fishbowl

This is my example for a student. It has a good effect to put flowers in the vase. Though the amounts of flowers are small, as a whole, it looks big enough to put it in a room.

Just cut oasis in to small piece, then soak it in water and arranged flowers into it.

Ikebana-Jiyuka

Ikenobo Ikebana.

Jiyuka must be still Ikebana though it is free style.

I felt 3 buds of lisianthus interesting. I treated them as focal row/dominance, which would enable viewers to see it first.

One small bud is placed at the bottom with a tiny yellow flower. Those are giving a good visual balance.

Interesting rhythm in the purple buds.

Work experience

Seasonal flowers.

The picture above is a bunch in a jam jar. Not me, my college at Bloomsbury Flowers made it. Beautiful Nigella, which is in season, shows a fabulous combination with purple sweetpeas and clematis.

New Bond Street

New Bond Street is one of the most famous shopping street in Central London as well as Regent Street.

For florists, it's interesting to pass through the streets. Why? Because High-profile shop displays flowers that can be seen from outside. In my opinion, should you see flower vases at entrance of shop, definitely the trade targets rich customers.

New life

A temporary stay at Pimlico.

I had to relocate from Writtle College because the teaching term has finished and now summer vacation. All students that had lived in the campus had to move out.

I am staying a hostel at Pimlico, which is just by River Themes. This place gives me good bus transport to Central London. Just around 20 minutes away from Holbrn by bus. In addition, it takes just 10 minutes walk away from New Covent Garden Flower Market. That was the big reason why I chose here to stay.

Nigella(Love in a mist)

Nigella is in season.

In the couple of weeks, it is in Bloomsbury Flowers. It takes a bit time to condition and clean the stems. The cobweb is around the stems and flowers.

It is from the buttercup family. So it will no long in Oasis foam, which is shame.

I took the pic above in my Ikebana sensei'a home. So beautiful.

Bridal posy and Ikebana

Today, Wednesday is a day O learn Ikebana from my Ikebana sensei.

I enjoyed making posy with her. The front one is my teacher's and the back is mine. These were taken in her lovely garden.

After that, I did Ikebana. The style was quite simple- Shoka Shohitai.

Though 真Shin and 副Soe were shrub, which is not appropriate, she said ok to use. The shrub tree was picked up from her garden.

With FE guys

Today, I went to Writtle college though it's summer off. I was set in to FE(further education) class to be filmed as an international student. A TV crew team was coming with British council. They wanted to film some good English collgeges.

It was not the first time to join FE class. Actually, I took part in there last year as a trail class when I was wondering if I would apply for the college.

The design was bunches with horizontal frame. I felt a bit hard as I never did that. But the final look was not too bad part from the position of focal flowers-gerbera and sun flowers.

It will be showcased for tomorrow open day.

Ikabana-Shinfu Tai. Tall design.

Ikenobo Ikebana. Shoka Shinfu Tai.

Though I intend to make shinfutai style, I feel this is not. That's because there is no 'Yo' element in there. 'Shu' element is definitely the tall grass and 'Ashirai' element is a race flower at the bottom.

Umm...
Apart from that, I still like it. showing will to grown towards sunlight and sky.

Ikebana- Jiyuka. Theme:Round.

According to a book published by Ikenobo, basic shapes of 'Jiyuka' would be round, triangle and square. So I started to try round shape. Strands of bear grass add roundish space though out the design.

What to improve?
I'd better to put 5 strands of grass. Odds number gives kind of harmony. Today, I put 4 strands. Next time, I would make 3 around the middle and 2 around the top.

Vase?
I think smaller and taller would be better. Because it gives movement and modernness on design.

Jiyuka. Bear grass creates space.

Ikebana-Jiyuka. White and Red.

I made this design with strong commitment to Ikebana through out my life. Beautiful 2 whites flowers make lovely contrast. And The Pieres japonica shows astonishing red.

This cannot be expressed just by 'beauty'. more than it.

Ikebana-Shoka Shofu tai.

Shoka Shinfu tai. 生花正風体
I am sure this style is strange. I used bigger leaves and flowers. Because I wanted to express my strong will on the day.

Harrogate Flower Show 2015

I visited Harrogate Flower Show 2015 on Saturday 25th of April. More than a hundred competition works were there, and I found so many wow-factours. I made a video, hopefully you'd be able to what was going on there.

16 Apr 2015

work experince

I sometime get bunches of flowers from work place. I do work experience 2 days a week in London. For all floristry students, it is nice to get flowers because lots of materials allow them to practice at home.

A picture above was taken around Holborn station in London.

Fruity flowers

Fruity flowers- citrus fruits.
Orange is called vitamin colour. It gives energy and freshness. As it is getting hotter, my friend and I decided to make it.

Lime, grape fruit(ruby red) and orange.
